چکیده

To understand the interplay of d-wave superconductivity and antiferromagnetism, we consider a two-dimensional extended Hubbard model with nearest neighbor attractive interaction. The Hamiltonian is solved in the mean-field approximation on a finite lattice. In the impurity-free case, the minimum energy solutions show phase separation as predicted previously based on free energy argument. The phase separation tendency implies that the system can be easily rendered inhomogeneous by a small external perturbation. Explicit solutions of a model including weak impurity potentials are indeed inhomogeneous in the spin-density-wave and d-wave pairing order parameters. Relevance of the results to the inhomogeneous cuprate superconductors is discussed. PACS numbers: 74.20.-z, 74.72.-h, 74.25.Ha Typeset using REVTEX

Interplay of D-wave Superconductivity and Antiferromagnetism in the Cuprate Superconductors: Phase Separation and the Pseudogap Phase Diagram

To understand the interplay of d-wave superconductivity and antiferromagnetism in the cuprates, we consider a two-dimensional extended Hubbard model with nearest neighbor attractive interaction. Free energy of the homogeneous (coexisting superconducting and antiferromagnetic) state calculated a s a function of the band filling shows a region of of phase separation. The phase separation caused b...

Novel Charge Order and Superconductivity in Two-Dimensional Frustrated Lattice at Quarter Filling

Motivated by the various physical properties observed in θ-(BEDT-TTF)2X, we study the ground state of extended Hubbard model on two-dimensional anisotropic triangular lattice at 1/4-filling with variational Monte Carlo method. It is shown that the nearest-neighbor Coulomb interaction enhances the charge fluctuation and it induces the anomalous state such as charge-ordered metallic state and the...

Cellular-dynamical mean-field theory of the competition between antiferromagnetism and d-wave superconductivity in the two- dimensional Hubbard model

Cellular dynamical mean field theory is used to study the competition of antiferromagnetism and d-wave superconductivity at zerotemperature in the two-dimensional Hubbard model. The outcome strongly depends on the value of the interaction. At strong coupling (UX8t) a first-order transition takes place as a function of doping between pure antiferromagnet and pure superconductor. At weakcoupling ...

The self-energy-functional approach is a powerful many-body tool to investigate different broken symmetry phases of strongly correlated electron systems. We use the variational cluster perturbation theory (also called the variational cluster approximation) to investigate the interplay between the antiferromagnetism and d-wave superconductivity of κ-(ET)2 X conductors. These compounds are desc...

Flow to strong coupling in the two-dimensional Hubbard model

We extend the analysis of the renormalization group flow in the two-dimensional Hubbard model close to half-filling using the recently developed temperature flow formalism. We investigate the interplay of d-density wave and Fermi surface deformation tendencies with those towards d-wave pairing and antiferromagnetism. For a ratio of next nearest to nearest neighbor hoppings, t′/t = −0.25, and ba...
